We take every precaution to adhere to all federal, state, and industry guidelines in order to provide protection for your identity and personal information. The following policy explains how we handle and protect the personal information that you give us. This policy only applies to the information that you give to SC. It does not apply or provide any protection for personal information that you give to any other members of the SitterCentral network for jobs or placements that you may be responding to or third party websites that you access through our website.

Some areas of this website may require you to submit additional information in order for you to benefit from the specified features (such as newsletter subscriptions or promotional offers). You will be informed at each information collection point what information is required and what information is optional. We do not store credit card information on our website. The SitterCentral website will store the last 4 digits of the credit card number for identification purposes only. The actual credit card information will be stored on a third party website, www.authorize.net, which processes the online payments.

Events with Event Directors
SC and www.sittercentral.us may sometimes offer events for registration that utilize a third party Event Director. Event Directors are third parties who are coordinating, sponsoring, or helping to facilitate a specific event. For events with an Event Director, SC will provide to the specific Event Director any personal information submitted by you that is necessary to complete your registration for that particular event. Each Event Director is operating independently of SC and may have different privacy and security policies than those of SC. You have the responsibility to review each Event Directors policies and choose whether to continue to register for their event. SC has no responsibility or liability for the actions of any Event Director to which SC supplies your information for event registration purposes.
Other than the aforementioned reasons, we will not sell, lease, or distribute your personal information to any third parties.
General Privacy Information
This website is not intended for use by children under the age of eighteen. We will not knowingly collect information from or accept membership applications from anyone under eighteen years of age. It is your responsibility to provide accurate and honest information when applying for membership. SC and www.sittercentral.us cannot be held responsible for users who provide inaccurate or incorrect data when applying for membership. We only use the data you provide and have no way of checking the accuracy of the information given.

Non-disclosure Agreements are in place with any person having access to sensitive data.

SC and www.sittercentral.us use SSL encryption for data transfer, a security firewall to protect the confidentiality of our customers’ information, and password protected access to the data.
- Data Integrity and Retention
We implement full database backups by our Information Technology Specialist to establish data consistency and integrity. We also allow members access to their information in order to verify that the data is still accurate and has not been modified or corrupted.
Data is stored on our secure server and backed up daily. Such data is stored to the extent required by state, federal, and local laws. Our servers are located in a secure and environmentally controlled location.
- Data Management and Monitoring
All employees and contractors of SC are informed of the company’s security policies. New hires are briefed on security and privacy issues.
Protect Yourself
You should always keep your user id and password confidential. If you ever feel like your user id or password has been compromised, you should notify us and change them immediately. You should also periodically check your personal information that has been stored to your account. If you see any discrepancy, you should immediately contact us to request that the error be corrected.

Applicable Law; Governing Law & Jurisdiction

Alternative Dispute Resolution
In the event any dispute arises between Company and any Person, the dispute shall be subject to “Alternative Dispute Resolution” (hereinafter referred to as ADR). Under the provisions of this ADR policy and in order to ensure the speedy, impartial resolution of all disputes between the parties which related to, or arise from the party’s relationship and/or operational decisions, the parties hereby agree to forego litigation. The disputing party shall be obligated to provide (within ten business days of the event giving rise to the dispute) written notification to the non-disputing party of the particulars of the dispute. The non-disputing party shall be required to respond to the disputing party’s allegations within ten business days receipt of the disputing party’s notification, then the parties shall submit to binding arbitration to resolve the dispute between the parties. The parties to the arbitration will bear the costs equally. Any binding arbitration procedures shall be conducted in accordance with arbitration rules promulgated by the American Arbitration Association (hereinafter referred to as “AAA”), but an AAA Arbitrator is not mandated by this provision. The final decision of the arbitrator may be appealed only to a judge in a court of competent jurisdiction. Said appeal shall not allow for live testimony and may only be based on written documentation and transcripts of the arbitration proceedings provided to the judge.
