We take every precaution to adhere to all federal, state, and industry guidelines in order to provide protection for your identity and personal information. The following policy explains how we handle and protect the personal information that you give us. This policy only applies to the information that you give to SC. It does not apply or provide any protection for personal information that you give to any other members of the SitterCentral network for jobs or placements that you may be responding to or third party websites that you access through our website.
Capture of Your Personal Information
As with many other websites, SC may gather information from you in two ways: actively and passively.
Active Information Collection
We actively collect information from you through your communication with us by email, feedback forms or membership application information given to us by you. Some of the information requested will be personally identifiable, such as name, address, phone, email, etc. In order to register to use our website, you must provide your name, address, phone number, email, gender, date of birth, and payment information. Some membership applications might require additional information when you apply. While it is possible for users to browse the home pages of the website, you must fill out a membership application and be accepted as a member before you can access the rest of the website by entering a user name and password, which is then stored for future use. All members of the SitterCentral network must have a user name and password to access our website. It is your responsibility to protect your user name and password. Use a variety of numbers, letters (both uppercase and lowercase), and symbols to create a secure password. We may use the information provided to contact you for customer service or billing reasons. Regardless of whether you join the SitterCentral network, we may use your email address, if you provide it to us, to respond to you or for other business purposes. We reserve the right to retain any personal information that you provide.
Some areas of this website may require you to submit additional information in order for you to benefit from the specified features (such as newsletter subscriptions or promotional offers). You will be informed at each information collection point what information is required and what information is optional. You always have the option of opting not to use the additional features if you do not wish to supply the requested information.
We do not store credit card information on our website. The SitterCentral website will store the last 4 digits of the credit card number for identification purposes only. The actual credit card information will be stored on a third party website, www.authorize.net, which processes the online payments.

This website will track IP addresses, assign internet tags and use both session and persistent cookies. We use the cookies for personalization, to save member ids and passwords, gather information about areas you visit on our website, or they may be used to deliver material to you that is specific to your interests. Cookies help us to provide you with a better and more useful website. You can adjust your web browser to either accept or deny cookies. However, not accepting cookies can limit your use of our website and possibly make some features unavailable.
